Psyche

Personification of the human soul and soulmates

The eyes are the windows of the soul. Trust me, I know.

A princess so beautiful in form, Psyche made Aphrodite jealous. So jealous, the goddess sent Eros after her. Dite wanted her son to make Psyche fall in love with an butt-ugly man.

Instead, Eros fell in love with her, himself. Every night, he’d go to her, but she wasn’t allowed to see him. Needless to say, her sister thought she was nuts for loving a man she wouldn’t know if she passed him on the street. She began nagging Psyche until Psyche went to Eros after he’d fallen asleep.

She was so startled by his beauty that she dropped wax on him while he slept. He woke up and saw her. Startled, he left and refused to come back.

Heartbroken (and most likely highly pissed at her sister), Psyche roamed the earth in utter misery. Until the day Eros came for her and took her home.

They’ve been happy ever since. Especially after Eros shot her sister with an arrow and made her fall in love with a toad. In ancient Greece, she was usually shown with butterfly wings.
