Her first suggestion is the Ash reader kit that holds a standard paperback and comes with a book light, bookmark, notepad for making notes and zips closed so that nothing falls out. To make it extra special, you could toss in a an autographed book with it :)

Get in car and drive down the street to realize I left my medicine that I need. Have to turn around and go back. Drat. Get in house to find that hubby took medicine out of my bag. So begins the mad search until I locate it in a place that only my hubby would think of.
